I have subscribed to and read blogger's who have thousands of subscribers like Seth Godin,viperchill and startbreakingfree and after looking at their blogs awhile I found that each of these blogger's all do a lot of the same things but all of them in their own way. And the reasons I have come up with why they do these things is because they build recognition with their readers and make it a personal experience with each and every one of their readers.So I have wrote down the 10 major ways they build this relationship in their blogs.

They all have a logo it makes the blog familiar and also people will remember a picture longer than they will remember the name to your site. I know Seth Godin has a picture of his head for is logo and startbreakingfree has a man shadow running with a white background and that is without looking anything up that was straight from memory.Try to make a logo like that that is memorable.
They all have it where you can subscribe via email because they know that is the most favorite way for people to subscribe and its really easy to add the subscription via email with feedburner so make sure you add this element to your blog.
Twitter follow me buttons are another way they make that connection plus when using twitter they bring in new readers and advertise their blogs.So make sure you have a twitter account and a follow me on twitter button which you can get pretty easy with blogger.com,typepad.com,wordpress.com and other blogging platforms.
Another thing is at the end of their blog posts they will put a twitter retweet button. This is where the readers can retweet your post on twitter easily and you get free advertisement among the readers friends. I do not know what it is called with Feedblitz but I know they have it but with Feedburner its called FeedFlare. FeedFlare puts a digg it symbol,stumbleupon symbol and other symbols in the footer of your blog post like the retweet button so you can bookmark it on the spot and it really is a great tool to use that all the popular bloggers use.
All the popular bloggers have a facebook fan page where they can make announcements like "New Blog Release Today!" and also will add a personal touch with a link to their blog. This may sound appealing or it might not but either way its a great way to advertise and you should use it!
A more personal touch they also bring to their blogs is awarding their top commenters with prizes like a free e-book or cash prize and also will have face-offs between two people asking each one the same questions and giving the one with the best answers a prize. This is a great to build trust with your readers,bring more people to your blog and get your readers involved in your blog.
The top blogger's are also very content orientated which means they make sure they are not talking about what they ate for lunch and junk but are giving you real content that is useful and so should you.
The top blogger's also do not spam people through their readers emails.Out of the most popular blogger's only about half of them have any advertisements and those that do have them in the footer of the emails so they do not bother you. So what this means is don't spam if you want to become a authoritative blogger in your niche and do little or no advertising on your blog.

Branding And Over-Branding

In Advertising there are two types of branders. The first one is someone that is unique and makes his product unique as well.The second one is one who might be a really good advertiser but he does not think up a unique name for his product and then when he advertises it it becomes a generic name for a genre instead of one products name.So I have made a list of good and bad branders and what you can learn from them.

Good Branders:Starbucks,Apple,Youtube.

Brand yourself uniquely like Starbucks instead of a cup of coffee they called it a cup of Starbucks. Apple branded its Mac computer by making something totally different than a regular pc and then making sure everybody knew it.Youtube did not just make a video sharing site but they combined it with a social network to make it unique.
Lessons learned from good branders be unique and then make sure your customers know it!

Bad branders: Coke,Band-Aid

Coke is not unique Coke can be coca-cola,pepsi-cola or anything because it has been advertised so much but not with a unique name so now it is just another generic genre name for a group of products but not products for an individual company.
Band-aid's is another bad brander they have became the name for all adhesive bandages and not just there particular brand of bandages and now they have slipped into a genre name for a host of products.

So is your brand heading towards a generic genre name which will lose its company or product individuality? If so bring it back to a uniqueness and make sure your customers know it!

A student at Eagle Rock Junior High won first prize at the Greater Idaho Falls Science Fair, April 26. He was attempting to show how conditioned we have become to alarmists practicing junk science and spreading fear of everything in our environment. In his project he urged people to sign a petition demanding strict control or total elimination of the chemical "dihydrogen monoxide." And for plenty of good reasons, since:

it can cause excessive sweating and vomiting
it is a major component in acid rain
it can cause severe burns in its gaseous state
accidental inhalation can kill you
it contributes to erosion
it decreases effectiveness of automobile brakes
it has been found in tumors of terminal cancer patients

He asked 50 people if they supported a ban of the chemical.

Forty-three (43) said yes,
six (6) were undecided,
and only one (1) knew that the chemical was water.

The title of his prize winning project was, "How Gullible Are We?" He feels the conclusion is obvious.

The Power Of A Death

Hank Gathers played basketball for the unknown and untested Loyola Marymount Lion team. Hank had played high school basketball in Philadelphia his hometown before playing for the University of Southern California. He played at USC for only one season before he transferred to Loyola Marymount. At Loyola he proved himself when he became the scorer and rebounder in his NCAA Division.Even scoring 46 points in a game against Shaquille O'Neal who later became a NBA star and veteran.The trouble did not start in his career until in the 1989 season when he collapsed on the floor well shooting a free throw at a LMU home game. He found out after that incident that he had an abnormal heartbeat and was prescribed medication for it but he thought that it affected his game so he cut back on the dosage. Then in a later game against Portland Hank collapsed again this occurrence he was not as lucky as last time because by the time he reached the hospital he had already died at age 23.
                   This death hit the Lions morale hard but soon this mourning for their teammate turned into a drive to win the NCAA championship in his name.They even got close winning enough games to make it to the Elite 8 where they eventually lost.
                   The point of this story is just to show how this one man's death gave a whole team of men the desire to do something out of the ordinary like a small,unreconized basketball team winning it all in the NCAA.The Power Of A Death was all in this one team's control to either take charge of this power in a positive or negative way.They could either weep and mourn for their teammate and throw their lives away or they could change their perspective and make The Power Of A Death a battle cry for success in their lives.
             I wrote this story not to make you sad or happy but as a question to think ahead to what if someone you know die's and if you would use The Power Of A Death in a positive or negative way?

Feedburner owned by google has became one of the most popular rss feed and most used. But even though many blogs use feedburner they dont know how to use it to its fullest extent. Feedburner has alot of extra features that you can use which can put you head and shoulders above all the other blogs out there. I have made a list of them and I will describe each of them and where you can find them.

Smartfeed is the first way to optimize your blog and probaby the best way. Smartfeed combines all visitors reader applications into RSS or Atom feed making it a single feed. You can activate this service by going to feedburner.com (where all the services or features will be activated) and logging into your google account and then clicking on the optimize tab. Smartfeed will be the third service listed from the top on the left.

FeedFlare is another way to optimize your site you will see this used by alot of the popular bloggers. FeedFlare puts a footer at the bottom of each of your blog posts where your readers can email your post or digg it and more just at a click of a button and creating a huge shortcut for your readers and giving you alot of free advertisement. You can find FeedFlare on feedburner.com under the optimize tab fourth down from the top on the left.(The reason I do not have it in the footer of my posts in because it is not compatible with my template)

Subscribing by email is my favorite way to subscribe and is shared by alot of other people so offering a subscribe via email form is crucial. You can add this by going to the publicize tab and Email Subscriptions will be third down from the top on the left.

If you have more than one blog you can put a BuzzBoost on your blog which is a small headline and link to your blog. You can put this html code or widget on your other blog to promote the one you want. You can find BuzzBoost under the publicize tab second down from the top on the left.

Socialize is one of the services feedburner provides and it helps you save time by adding the title of your newest blog post with a link to your blog post to twitter automatically when you publish a post. Finding Socialize is easy just go under the publicize tab and its the six down from the top on the left.

And the last service to put on your blog is FeedCount which tells people who view your site how many subscribers you got and gives you some bragging rights. It is posted in a small tab anywhere you want it on your page you can get it by going under the publicize tab and its the fifth down from the top on the left.

They started selling the Macintosh computer soon after the IPO and later Itunes,Ipod's,Iphone's and recently Ipad's were released. Apple has made approximately $400 billion dollars since its started and is still growing at a rapid pace! I wonder now how much Atari and Hewlett-Packard could have made if they had just hired on these two programmers? Atari later sold its brand and assets to Hasbro Interactive for $5 million dollars and Hewlett-Packard is still a huge monstrous company even worth more than Apple but how much bigger could it have been if they had hired Steve Jobs and Steve Wozniak?
We will never know the answers to these questions but we still can guess.So what do you think Hewlett-Packard and Atari could have been?

Have you ever wondered "How many bloggers are out there?" or maybe another question I think every blogger asks daily is "How many blog readers are there?". I have asked these questions to myself too many times so I finally started researching the topic and thought I might share my finding's.
So I researched and researched until I found a case study by some scientists polling a thousand american's. This case study found out that 4 out of 10 american's have visited a blog and that 8% have their own blog.46% of the blog readers go to the same blog regurally while on the other hand 54% of blog readers say they like to look for new and different blogs. The bloggers were also asked what they are looking for in a blog; some said for opinions,some said for information on hobbies but 48% blog readers said they read blogs for entertainment.
Besides finding out about this case study and learning about how many blog readers are out there
I also answered the second question when I went to technorati.com (which is the biggest blog indexing site) and found they they are indexing 112.8 million blogs worldwide.

A lot of people know nothing or very little about bookmarks but they are something every internet user should know about and use. The reason every internet user should use bookmarks are because they are huge time savers.
So what are bookmarks? Glad you asked, bookmarks are a way to make a internet shortcut by making the website a "favorite" which means it is a website you want to use again. A bookmark is made by you adding it to a Uniform Resource Identifier which is simply a private library on your web browser which instead of storing books stores URL's. URL's are then in plain words addresses for web pages on the World Wide Web. Internet Explorer and Mozilla Firefox and all the other major web browsers made it when you bookmark a page it will appear in a organized list that you can open up hundreds of web pages from with just a click of the mouse. This organized list of bookmarks saves you time so you don't have to hunt down a website every time you want to visit it.

Famous Last Words Telephone

"This 'telephone' has too many shortcomings to be seriously considered as a means of communication. The device is inherently of no value to us." -- Western Union internal memo, 1876 This statement was made when Western Union was offered the telephone patent for 100,000 dollars (2.25 million dollars in today's dollars) by Alexander Bell and his partners.And as you can see above they were turned down. When turned down Bell and his partners then formed Bell Company and bought out Western Electric Company from Western Union for their telegraph lines, in 1881. Later Bell Company through a series of name changes would evolve into AT&T.

Now fast forward 229 years to 2010 and AT&T company made over a 100 billion dollars last year.And on the other side of the spectrum Western Union last year made a little under 5 billion dollars, not bad but still chump change compared to AT&T but even that revenue came at a price Western Union has gotten out of the telegraph sending business all together and in 2006 filed for chapter 11 whch in the end they got bought out another company.
This one decision changed the entire future of the company.My thoughts behind this is what the president of Western Union thinks of everyday when he picks up his phone in his office? And what kind of opportunities might we pass up that will affect out future drastically?

Ipad Verse Iphone

Apple has come out with the new Ipad which personally I think is not that great so using the features list on apple.com I have compared the diff. between the two.
So starting with the Ipad; it has a bigger screen which is approximately 4 times as big as the Iphone besides that it features Iwork which is an built-in app that lets the user make presentations,documents and spreadsheets.It also lets you put Ibooks on your Ipad with a free app which lets you read i-books (e-books) on your Ipad but this app is coming out on the new Iphone soon so I dont even know if this extra feature counts?But after these features all the other features the Ipad has so does the Iphone.
Now to the Iphone which the features it has that the Ipad does not is first of all the phone part as well as it has voice control app for it so you can say the name of the person you want to call and it will automatically call them. Another one is the compass which is really helpful when using the maps.It also has a copy and paste feature which was not listed with the Ipad features which is kinda confusing me because the Ipad is supposed to be more like a home computer? And last but not least is the MobileMe app which shows you where your Iphone is when you lose it online on a map and also lets you lock it up to protect your privacy until you can find it again
.
